The first song chosen to
be worked on in the Music lesson was an easy, well-known tune to all
of our students since “accidentals” were meant to be learnt.
Accidentals are
signs that are placed before musical notes in order to change their
sound, rising or lowing their pitch. The most usual ones are sharp,
flat, natural signs.
“Tetris” tune
fulfilled all these requirements, that is to say, all of our students
have heard it before, it is easy to play and we can listen to a B
flat.
The song “When the
Saints go marching in” was chosen to teach “improvisation”
to our students, since Jazz is a type of music mainly based on it.
First of all, we learned the lyrics of the song, then we also
listened to different versions in order to become familiar with it
and finally, we tried to carry out our own extemporizations.
